Rotosound has been my preferred string for 40 years, so when I acquired an 8-string bass the first thing I did was to replace the strings with Rotos. The setup was a breeze, intonation is near perfect. Before I changed them, the strings were so poor you couldn't even tune the guitar. Now it sounds great and everyone is really impressed with the guitar.

After all these decades, I am wondering if they have to be so thick. Problem, the high G string sounds like a frickin banjo and has very little sustain. NEVER experienced that before. Only other bother is the high E string is so thick that it does not fit through the bridge opening. I had to double up the low E opening.

The octave D string broke immediately, barely tight. That was pretty stunning. Been playing on and off for 40yrs and decided to go back to Rotosound. Best sounding strings but just disappointed it broke.
