I must start by saying that I love this game. MMO's are very addicting, and Vanguard is no exception to that rule. Yes, I will admit that Vanguard, was launched before it should have been, with to many servers, but at the same time, all of the problems that it has had since launch hasn't changed the fact that I love to play it. That being said, The fact that to many servers were launched has been corrected. At the end of last month, the servers merged to help the populations. Bugs are always being worked out, but the game is great. The graphics are exceptional, and if you are an MMO fan this game is for you. On the subject of the Collectors edition, which is what this review is for. I would not trade me collectors edition for the regular version. I like that it comes with the in game item, and also with the maps and other extras. I for one used the map quite a bit. So maybe they launched it a little too prematurely, but whats done is done. Vanguard: Saga of heroes is a great game for any MMO gamer.Read full review
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is a throwback to the games of old, like EQ and UO. With slow leveling and death penalties, it's at times not for the faint of heart. But if you enjoy a vast, sprawling world with deep and interesting gameplay, you will not be disappointed. The only sad part is the population. After terrible development by Sigil and mismanagement by SOE, the game's population is not very large. That's not to say there aren't players, but if you're expecting WoWs population, you'll be sorely disappointed. The players that are there though are the most helpful, caring, and generous players you will ever meet. I have random people walk by me and offer to help with quests, craft me items, and are generally just very kind. The dungeons are AMAZING. They bring back the serious dungeon crawl experiences of the older MMOs. No instanced dungeons, these are open to any players who enter them. They are seriously HUGE and you can go through a dungeon and probably level up from 0 to 100%, without ever seeing every room. They definitely require a few friends and some teamwork, as some of the mobs and bosses can be challenging. If you bring a friend (or preferably two) along, you will have no problem with any quest or dungeon you could find. I would definitely recommend this game to any people who are tired of most of the mainstream MMOs that lack depth. Give Vanguard a try, you won't be disappointed.Read full review
Ok, so i dont like having to shell out the monthly for this game, But its a great game with some great content. It should definately be played by everyone at least for the free month, and even then it feels to me like what Ultima Online should have been from the start. Or like Dungeon Siege on steroids. Hope this helps! TsUzU
This is a must have for an Vanguard fan. The game started out strong over a year ago but has died in the passing months to only those loyal to the game, me being one of them. Collectors Editions are great to have anyway even if you are not a fan of the game because there are only so many of them, get them while you can.
To bad game is no longer active. Best game I played.
