Givenchy Gentleman Original Formula is the best
I've used Givenchy Gentleman since 1975 and nothing else has come close to this fragrance ever. I hope Givenchy Parfums will continue to make the original formula for ever.

A Different Kind of Gentleman
In case you are unaware, this is NOT the original Givenchy Gentleman which released in the 70’s. This version (started in 2017) has a MUCH different profile, which gets a love/hate reaction. I’m squarely in the former camp. The biggest notes I get are a beginning of pear and pineapple (fruity/soft), followed by iris and lavender (floral, kind of...tart?), followed by leather and a hint of vanilla and spice (aromatic). Not a projection monster, but it gives a nice bubble of scent for 4-6 hours. Spring and fall type weather, or indoors. Evening or morning. This fragrance is not loud and boisterous, it is alluring and mature. A little sweet and floral at the start, but transitions to leather and vanilla smoothly to stay masculine. Old school Barbershop
If you want an outstanding patchouli fragrance, don't hesitate to buy it. It's one of the best in this genre. Unfortunately, with the launch of black cap version, Gentleman was significantly reformulated. The beautifully balanced patchouli note from vintage version with a silver cap had been toned down and some new bitter notes had been added. Now it's less balanced, less sophisticated, more harsh and bitter. It lacks the earthy, balsamic and warm qualities of a previous version.If you want an outstanding patchouli fragrance, don't hesitate to buy it. It's one of the best in this genre.
