Impeller kit works as advertised
I installed this during the fall and had to wait until a specific type of wet snow event in the winter before I could properly review this product. The installation went very smoothly and making minor adjustments to shave the paddles around rivets in the circular impeller box were easy to accomplish. You do need to know your way around tools to remove the snow blower chute and be able to drill holes for the bolts attaching the paddles. I found the paddles to be of a sturdy material and once installed to an appropriate tolerance, they are not contacting the impeller box at all, so I expect these will last the life of the snow blower. The first snow that left about 4 inches of heavy wet snow followed by a few hours of rain and drizzle left a 2 - 3 inch layer of slush on the driveway. ... Good product, great execution! You’ve probably seen the reviews on other sites. Maybe even a video or two of the product. Well, here’s my review! I’m geared with an Ariens 1332 DLE Professional. This is a three bladed impeller that has gotten me through many winters in Tahoe, with the current winter resulting in 12’ of stacked snow at the foot of my driveway and 5’ of Sierra cement in my backyard. Never had much of a problem with snow, but thought “why not” when I saw the review of this product. The instructions are adequate for anyone who knows how to use a power drill. The generic length of the rubber bits is more than adequate, and the advice to trim it with a hacksaw works just fine. The Indifferent 1. For the price, the components are solid. Yeah, you can probably scrape together the same from HD or Lowes’, but it’s not worth the effort. 2. You’re going to want to drill (presuming you have a drill, I have a few cordless Dewalt and Milwaukee ones which worked just fine) a pilot hole and then expand it. Your impeller (at least mine was) blade is solid metal and will take time … and use oil! 3. Be sure to clean up metal shavings on your way out! First the bad 1. The self-tapping screws do not create a large enough hole for the bolts to feed into. You’re going to want to use a drill bit (or bits) to get a proper size. 2. The offset of the rubber portion to the holes you’re going to wind up drilling into your impeller blade may not fit! In other words, the holes are set too far towards the middle and if you’re trying to make the rubber squeeze out the gap … you’re going to be making more of an oval in order to shift the rubber blade forward 3. The instructions can use clarification as to which side the rubber blade fits … blade forward! Which means that the facing of the impeller side is where you’re going to be mounting the rubber blade. Not too hard to figure out as you’re not going to be able to drill on the other side, but you may wonder “but what if something gets lodged … will it break something?” The good Does it work? Normally my snow does fly … 30’ if not more, and I didn’t notice a big difference here. When I was removing wet sludgy snow from the top of my hot tub cover and yes, no clogging! The snow only flew 6-10’ but the no clogging was the win! Overall, I’m pleased with the purchase, the quality and worksmanship. PS. Does it jam? I’ve lost a carriage bolt from a drift cutter and it got tossed, somewhere. I also picked up a pine cone that jammed the impeller, stopping it dead. The snow blower started up just fine afterwards without a hiccup. So I’d say that the propensity to jam is unaffected!

OMG, What a diference!
OMG!, What a difference. I installed these on my John Deere S240 with a 44 inch snow blower. I was both surprised and disappointing to find out that my 44 inch snow blower had the plastic impeller and not the metal one. I decided to try them anyway. It took us almost two hours to install them. Getting the spacing right and leaving just a little free space is what took the most time.We also had to find a couple of different length bolts than were provided due to the shape of the impeller fins. It snowed about 2 inches this morning and it was a very wet snow (Just what we needed to find out if they really worked). These things made the most fantastic difference I've ever seen. The wet snow was being thrown over the power lines, at least twice as far as without them. The next door ... OMG!, What a difference. Fixed my worthless craftsman snowblower
I was about to throw my snowblower off a bridge. It's a Craftsman 28inch 9hp. Heavy snow, clogged instantly. Light snow, would throw it 8-12 feet max. It would even clog in powder. Total garbage. Installed new belts, no help. In a fit of rage at 4am in my driveway I looked up modifying a snowblower, and this came up. This thing made a world of difference. Now, it does not clog. Throws heavy snow 20 feet, powder about 40 (actual measurements). I can even snowblow in a higher gear because the main auger is no longer being overloaded, since the smaller auger is actually removing the snow. Shipping was lightning fast, but in all fairness I live about 10 miles from where it shipped from. Unless you have a real high end Ariens or Honda or something like that, you need this. Improves Snow Blower Performance
After receiving a recommendation from a friend about the improved performance of his snow blower with the impeller modification I purchased this kit and so far have not been disappointed. Installation was relatively straight forward. As with any machinery modification, there was a bit of improvising, but from start to finish installation took about 2 hours. The instructions provided were clear and the FAQ section of the website provided a lot of additional, helpful info. First use was a couple of days ago with about 3 inches of slush topped with 1 inch of snow. In the past my snow blower would have completely bogged down in these conditions, but it now handled it without issue. It threw the very wet snow/slush about 10 feet, which is great considering how heavy it was. I am looking ...
