      Not an adequate replacement for original Mitsubishi 2SC2166

      I'm not faulting the seller here; rather, his supplier. This part, when substituted in an RF power amplifier, did not perform as well as an original Mitsubishi 2SC2166. The Mitsubishi devices have a transition frequency, Ft, of about 30 MHz. This replacement device exhibited an Ft of about 5 MHz. Note that Ft is not specified on the device data sheet, but the data sheet shows the major intended application of the device as a 27 MHz power amplifier. Whoever copied Mitsubishi's original recipe did not do a very good job. Do not use this replacement part in RF amplifier applications above about 5 MHz.
