Notes
Weaving synths, glockenspiel and guitar with vocoder, boys choir and even Orson Welles narration, producer Parsons brilliantly interpreted the chilling works of Edgar Allan Poe on this 1976 LP. The Project's first release, it went Top 40 and notched hits with (The System of) Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether and the Raven ; here's the 1976 album and 1987 remix plus demos, unreleased "experiments" and more bonus material!

    AWESOME

This is more than just music it is a work of art that pays homage to one of the greatest American writers ever. An absolute must have for any collection. I had it already on vinyl but have not had a turntable hooked up for years so this was a long missed piece. I saw him live recently at a small theater and it brought back how much I missed this album, incredible. Thank you Alan Parsons for all the music you have had a hand in over the years.

  • Remastered APP Tales of Mystery & Imagination. Wonderful, Recommend!

I love Edgar Allen Poe and the Alan Parsons Project. The concept works well. It has been a long time (I had the album years ago) since I heard the entire album. I love it and the face they added the complete Orson Wells commentary to it. It does have changes, but the changes do not take away (in my opinion) from the finished product. It is a creative, prog rock, under-rated masterpiece. I think it is one of the best APP albums and seems to be the hardest to find and doesn't get the credit it so deserves. Worth buying. Wonderful and creative!

  • If you like some older, different music.

The product was in great shape (just to give a little positive feedback to the seller). Honestly, I bought the cd because it was something that my mom was looking for. Back in her younger years, she liked this kind of music. Slightly rock-ish, slightly more mellow, but all kinds of "let's get stoned and rock". Different era, but I am a collector of all types of music, having over 6,000 different tracks - everything from this, to Simon and Garfunkle, Kiss, Gun's and Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, and to Beethoven, Chopin, and Tchaikovsky, (that I can count anyway). In my opinion, it is definately something that every music junky should at least listen to, and perhaps may be just the thing needed to complete one's collection.

  • Alan Parsons Project: Tales of Mystery & Imagination

I’m a big Edgar Allan Poe fan and Alan Parsons Project too. This is a perfect marriage of these two artists from the literary world and composing/recording. I listened to it (decades) ago and finally bought it at a great price on cd. Love it!

  • Reliving junior high school

I hadn't heard this album in about 30 years. Nice to relive my youth a little bit. Musicians include members of Ambrosia and Pilot among others.
