  • Sinking Jesus

To have both of these magnificent works on one CD is just marvelous.... Albeit slightly abridged (well they do go on...) And all the better for it.....Not exactly party music but maybe with a modern groove these could hit the charts somewhere.. but I love them just the way they are...

  • A bit of nostalgia

About 5 years ago, I heard a live performance of Gavin Bryars' composition of "Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet", which was a wonderful experience. I had not heard the piece since then, and decided to purchase a copy to listen to at home. It is a lovely piece, gently rising to a crescendo with the instrumentation gradually added in round by round. Despite having the same melody repeated over and over for the entire length, it does not seem at all repetitive, since there is something new to pick out with each round. The title piece of the CD, the Sinking Of The Titanic, is not quite so much to my taste, but an interesting composition nonetheless. Overall, I would say buy this if you have heard it played live or liked a recording, otherwise if you see it advertised in the future, go and ...

  • brilliant

I love it because it is the singing of a man who knew the Lord Jesus Christ, as the only Saviour of guilty rebels like us. This man was a homeless elderly guy, for whatever reason, and yet he knew that Christ was his Lord and Saviour. He knew that we deserve hell for our self-righteousness, pride, lust, hypocrisy, selfishness etc - andyet he lso knew that Jesus died on the Cross not as an example of supreme love, or as a great wise teacher - but He died to take the punishment for our sins - He bore the wrath of God against our sins. And there is no other Saviour, no other way into heaven, no peace with God but through Jesus Christ, and Him alone. That's why I like this product. Well, you did ask !
