Power Source Hardwired. HARDWIRED & 10-YEAR BATTERY BACKUP: Operates on 120V AC wiring (installed in the ceiling). Not a substitute for a manual push test, perform a button test once per week to verify alarm operation.
Based on my experience on the old one prior to replacement. This kind of alarm is very hard to dispose of once it reaches end of life. The chirping sound is very annoying and the switch to turn it off is hard to reach without breaking the case with tools like wire cutters. The battery inside is hard soldered down to the printed circuit board and therefore need cutters to cut the lead off to remove it prior to disposal. It also contains radioactive material and therefore the owner cannot just throw it into the trash can. The user manual is hard to read and understand.
