Notes
This classic Blue Note veers back to late in 1954, a quartet under the leadership of Horace Silver was playing at Minton's Playhouse in Harlem, New York. As a result of earlier success on the Blue Note Label, Horace's star was in the ascendency and Alfred Lion was anxious to record more of his brilliant, hard driving piano. Recorded on November 13, 1954 & February 6, 1955 at Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. This is part of Blue Note Records "Rudy Van Gelder Editions" series. Blue Note.

DVD was "as described" in the listing and arrived quickly and very securely and professionally packaged. Excellent communications with seller who contacted me twice to be clear that I understood a minor change in the listing and could decline the purchase (which I did not). I would recommend this fine A-1 eBay seller without reservation and would make additional purchases without hesitation.

Everything's great!! A+++ transaction - The DVDs came quickly and when I opened the package the DVD jacket looked brand new on the front, back and sides; Then I opened the case and found one DVD on each side - disc one and disc 2. Everything is as described, and I am very happy with my purchase. That said, I will be doing business with this seller in the future.

  • Wonderful album!

This album is an important early element in The Jazz Messengers legacy. This recording represents the studio output of the first Jazz Messengers lineup. The live recordings of this ensemble are on Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers at Cafe Bohemia, Volumes i and II, This music makes for exceptional listening!
