Exact replacement
1:1 replacement, I can turn right again. This part just like the OEM has a lot of play between the pinion and the steering wheel shaft which causes wear on the turning gear. I 3d printed a bushing to take up that slack and it steers smooth as butter. Should last longer too. The manufacturer should provide a bushing but since the original didn’t have one, neither will theirs. I’m happy with it.

Well built and a perfect fit!
Seems very solid and well built. The description says 1996 and newer but it looked identical in the photos and seemed like an exact fit for my 1991 Murray model 9-40620. The steering pinion and gears had worn out and my mower wouldn't steer to the right. Plug and play, didn't have to jerry-rig anything. I did have to tighten the bolts on the steering sector gear a bit. I installed it this morning and mowed about an acre this afternoon. Steers perfectly.
