    No Frills Sound Card

    It works exactly what I needed it for. My headphone jack was busted on my pc, and I needed a quality headphone jack. It does that perfectly. The Sound Quality in fact is even a bit better than my thinkpad's on board sound card. My complaint however is it doesn't offer any digital output, no s/pdif, no toslink, no optical, nothing. So using this as a source for my Stereo receiver isn't exactly ideal, but it does work. Just don't expect surround sound. The other complaint is it is not the strongest build quality, I've already put down my laptop with the headphone cable plugged in and the thing bends to hell. Overall though, it was a good purchase, as long as you get it for a good price (I paid 35 shipped)

    Excellent sound

    My integrated sound from my laptop just stop working at hardware level and buying a usb was very critical because I use at least 3 usb ports and using another one for a usb-audio device just don't work for me, I look around and found this precious, It has a very good sound quality, you can use its amazing Creative Control Panel which allows to you to manage your sound like never before, looks pretty nice, its slim wich its excellent and it came with extras, a creative earphones with very good quality, a case for your card in case you want to keep it in a safe place and an adapter compatible with a different socket, its just GREAT.

    It's a nice little upgrade but don't expect full Xfi hardware accelleration or ASIO support

    So, it's not a true Xfi card. It is an express card variant of the Xfi Extreme Audio which is a rebranded Audigy SE. Basically, all the Xfi features are performed in software. This isn't the end of the world if you have a decent modern CPU in your notebook. The sound quality is definitely good and of course better than the average built in notebook audio. I heard no RF interference while using it with a Dell E6430. Even though there is no hardware acceleration, using this card does give you EAX and CMSS 3d for sound in games. Alchemy is included for Vista and on to re-enable support in games. One other nice little feature is the ability to re-route the sound through the internal speakers.
