About this product

Product Information

Drawing on their decades of teaching experience, William Briggs and Lyle Cochran have created a calculus text that carries the teacher's voice beyond the classroom. That voice-evident in the narrative, the figures, and the questions interspersed in the narrative-is a master teacher leading readers to deeper levels of understanding. The authors appeal to readers' geometric intuition to introduce fundamental concepts and lay the foundation for the more rigorous development that follows. Comprehensive exercise sets have received praise for their creativity, quality, and scope.

Item was heavily worn with a crease in the cover. Cover illustration was from an older printing than shown due to the use of stock images. Was purchased with 2 other books. Out of the 3 books this was the only one that arrived in the package. The other 2 were missing and the seller did not respond to any of my messages regarding the missing books.

  • Concepts are Presented in Concise PRACTICAL Format.

Briggs and Cochran presents the complex and sometimes "dreaded" Calculus textbook that is easy to see equations completely written out. No extra graphs, stories or photos to fill out the subject matter or complicate the education process of learning this mathematical discipline. A well thought out Text Book, with excellent flow. Highly Recommended over Stewart for Calculus textbook.

  • Good book, straight forward , but has a steep learning curve

Great book, explains concepts well. However, it does jump around and expects you to know various concepts before having a good understanding how. My book was not hardcover as it's an international edition. A hardcover is not worth the extra 50-80 dollars just have it. International edition is just fine

  • son LOVES it

exactly what he wanted. great price. good condition

  • Decent book

Accurate descriptions and plenty of examples makes this 1 of the best calculus books I own. There are plenty of practice questions, which makes preparing for exams easier.

  • Save money on textbook

We have not used the book yet but we saved $177 buying this one instead of the school's bookstore copy. This however is not hardcover but paperback.
