Robert Blake stars in this popular 1970s TV crime drama as Tony Baretta, a maverick NYPD detective who flouted the department's rules when he thought they might prevent him from taking down a criminal. With the help of ex-cop Billy Truman, streetwise informants Rooster and Fats, and his pet cockatoo Fred, Baretta took on some of the NYPD's toughest cases from his office inside a fleabag hotel. A master of disguise, Baretta could pass himself off as a biker, a Mafia lieutenant or a drug dealer with equal aplomb, allowing the show to tackle a number of scenarios while keeping Blake's charismatic Baretta front and center. Gritty, hip, and often very funny, BARETTA is a suspenseful and engaging police drama that is every bit as enjoyable today as it was in the 1970s. Contains three episodes: the pilot episode, "Secret of Terry Lake," and "Keep Your Eye on the Sparrow".

    Nostalgic and so entertaining!

    Ran across this Baretta DVD while shopping for a friend - so glad I got it. All three episodes are so well acted and so well written. I had forgotten what a solid actor Robert Blake is, cute, funny enforcer of the law but has a huge heart, can't imagine anyone else playing this role. Of course Fred, the cockatoo, always steals the show!

    I thoroughly enjoyed it and would buy the entire series when available.

    It is great now bring on the rest of Baretta episode It was great now bring on the rest of the series. It has been years since the release of this first season. When are they going to put on the rest of the series on DVD? Baretta set the tone for gritty realistic police drama back in the 70's. This award winning drama series was often imitated but never duplicated. Robert Blake put his heart and soul into this character. He becomes Bsretta. Fans have been waiting six years for the entire series to be put on DVD. What is taking so long? It still holds up today and will beat anything they are showing now on TV. And that includes CSI baloney.

    An Ok Video

    It's an ok video if you only want a few Baretta episodes. However these episodes all can be found in the complete season 1 set of Baretta on dvd. Instead of putting out a few episodes already in another set, they should have chosen episodes from other seasons for viewers to enjoy. Overall it's an ok product but it lacks in originality.

    Baretta: The Best of Baretta (dvd, 2002)

    Great action show. Robert Blake at his best. I still love hearing the theme song sung by Sammy Davis Jr.(what a legend he was R.I.P.), which, unfortunely is not on this disc (only the music is on the disc). Highly recommended.
