    Seagates are cheaper but slower

    I bought two open box Seagate drives because they were a few dollars less than any competitor. The Seagates have substantially lower data transfer rates (around 35 to 50 Megabytes per second) on my Win 7 home computer. Normally I expect 80 to 120 Megabytes per second from an external hard drive. The Seagates are cheaper but not worth the cost savings as the performance is less.

    It's working fine. So far so good. I don't know how much use it got but I keep an eye on all my drives and if they seem to be a little less dependable, I replace them.
