NHL Hitz Pro is what appears to be the last installment in the Hitz series from Midway. I loved Hitz 2003 and figured I would give this one a shot. The controls are basically the same as the original game, and are simple enough for someone new to the game to pick up within 15-20 min tops. For those who have played before there are a couple of new things, like the ability to move the puck independent of the skater, and actually aim your shots. The game is also highly adjustable, which is great, so you can change the difficulty of 30+ different game elements to make it to your taste. Here are the top 3 reasons I love the game: 1. Push the hitz slider up and slam the other team around, through the glass, etc. 2. Great party game, I play with my brothers, and its a blast every time. (can have up to 4 on the same team, or play against one another) 3. Customizable, make your own team, change the length of seasons, play with or without rules, etc. And the 3 things I dislike about it the most: 1. In prior Hitz games you had cool options to unlock new jerseys, heads, misc teams etc. They pretty much took that feature out, which stinks. Custom teams have minimal choices of Logos and looks for your team, again, a huge downgrade from the previous games in the series. 2. The announcers are not as outrageous, or funny, as they are in previous Hitz games. Half of the fun is hearing the announcer make fun of the guy you just creamed. 3. Some of the features are downright annoying. After you import a custom team into a season, the only thing you can change on the players is their number. This means if you really want to change something you have to re-import the custom team and start the season over. Likewise the trade feature during league play is annoying, as you cannot look at the player stats to see if the computer is being completely stupid in trades being offered and accepted. The fights also royally stink. They took out the fun finishing moves and mini fight game and replaced it with a "lets see how fast you can push one button so we can replay the same fight animation again and again". Overall, its a great game. Too bad Midway couldn't keep their grubby paws off of some of the original series features that made Hitz unique, fun, and more than just another hockey game (there are plenty of those hanging around). I would still recommend it to anyone.Read full review
This has all the old features of old sports games: bad physical contact, glitsches, and uncontrollable fun. NHL Hitz Pro has many features that newer games complicate, making it even more fun. The game modes, like franchise (with transferring), playoff mode, and quickmode (including pond hockey and street hockey) only improve the game. One downside of this game is the fact that there is no practice mode. Training mode helps you to understand the basics of this game, which are all you need for such a simple and fun game to play. As a 2003 game, this game seems advanced, but as a 2009 video game player, this is just simple and fun, addicting as well.
A very fun hockey game. If you were a hockey fan during the 2004-2005 season, then you will especially love this game. There were no more Hitz games after this one. 5-on-5 hitz hockey is great and the commentary can be funny.

I had this title for the PlayStation 2. I have an original Xbox and for some reason, it doesn't read disks any longer. At Christmas time I was looking to replace the Xbox and found another one at a reasonable price. I then thought of this title that I thought would be even better on an Xbox, so I searched for it on Ebay and found one at a reasonable price and order it and received it in a timely fashion. Very pleased all around. Very happy with my purchase.
