One of computer gaming's biggest titles makes its return with the release of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The classic story, which had players guiding a young prince through a trap-filled palace to save his beloved from marrying an evil vizier, has been updated with 3D graphics and new traps and puzzles. The story begins with the titular prince tricked by a vizier into using a mystical dagger to release the Sands of Time from an hourglass. With the help of an ally, players must right this wrong by recapturing the Sands of Time before the deceitful vizier can harness its power.<br><br>As players explore each room, from an ornate reception hall to an underground foundry, they will be able to perform a number of acrobatic moves to protect them from harm. As in previous games, cinematic cut-scenes help tell the story as the prince overcomes a number of deadly traps and enemies lurking inside the Persian palace. Developer Ubi Soft Montreal, best known for its work on Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, has worked closely with the original game's creator, Jordan Mechner, for this new tale in the Prince of Persia series.

A Nostalgic Replay of an Old Favorite Yet to be Beat
This is an old game, which is why the graphics are poor compared to today's quality, but that's to be expected. This is a five star game to me, personally, for I grew on this game. It was one of my earliest GameCube games. Heck, it was one of my earliest video games over all. It's a simple puzzle/combat/adventure game, not too unlike The Legend of Zelda games of old and yor. It's been ages since I've played this, and last I had, it was a rental from Hollywood video (yeah, long time ago), but I didn't have time to beat as my brother had. But now, it's my turn. Yeah!This is an old game, which is why the graphics are poor compared to today's quality, but that's to be expected. This is a five star game to me, personally, for I grew on this game. A fun action packed adventure
I've always loved this game ever since I played it on my PS2 years ago. I just purchased it again for the gamecube and I currently enjoy it just as much as I remember enjoying it. Great story, wonderful fighting and gymnastic mechanics, of course the graphics are not like current graphics but it's great for the time it came out.

It had an intriguing premise, a Persian Prince on a quest to rescue his princess from the evil Vizier Jaffar and with only an hour to do it -- a time clock counted down to zero during the entire quest. Ubi Soft's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, the 3D grandson of the original, is every bit as clever, as well made, as wholly entertaining and enjoyable -- and then some. This long-in-development sequel not only retains the established play mechanics and charm of its 2D predecessor, but it actually betters them -- and by a considerable amount. A commendable accomplishment given that the first is considered by many to be one of the greatest videogames ever created. The title features a very intelligent, thoughtful presentation. Prince's story is told through a variety of crisp, ambient full-motion video cut-scenes and witty in-game dialogue. The character talks to himself, yes, and he even acknowledges this oddity sometimes, which is amusing. This direct method of storytelling works tremendously well because it never breaks us from the action. Plus, because the story often unravels from the very lips of our hero, we always know what he's thinking and feeling and it makes him more real and more likable. Prince, as it turns out, is not the cliché hero. He has his own agenda. He's proud, if not conceited. He wants to please his father. And it's this ambition that starts all of the trouble. The game begins in medieval Persia shortly after the Prince and the king have defeated the Maharajah and looted his palace. When the Prince takes a mysterious dagger he accidentally unleashes the Sands of Time...
