Notes
Without a doubt, Robert Earl Keen is one of the most prolific and influential singer-songwriters to emerge from Texas in recent years. Born in Houston on January 11, 1956, Keen went to college at Texas A&M University, where he and fellow student, Lyle Lovett, perfected their songwriting skills through long hours of front porch picking. Keen drew inspiration from earlier Texas songwriters including Kris Kristofferson, Guy Clark, and Billy Joe Shaver, but he also learned as an English Literature major, how to carefully hone succinct, hard-hitting story lines. UNDONE: A MUSICFEST TRIBUTE TO ROBERT EARL KEEN is a moving testimonial to Keen's important legacy as a singer, songwriter, performer and pioneer in the Americana music movement. With a great deal of respect and a healthy dose of humor and energy, each one of these musicians adds his or her own interpretation to Keen's material. Tribute features artist such as Jason Boland, Matt Skinner, Max Stalling, Wade Bowen and more. Robert Earl Keen himself appears adding five songs to the two disc collection.
