    Old school industry standard

    These transformers have been in use for decades, and hold up pretty well for DC operation. While not as powerful as the 2400 / 2500 series, these baseline models can handle multiple locomotives without breaking a sweat. If you're using DC wiring, and not looking for high tech, you really can't go wrong with these. Some internal tweaking is possible, but you'll need special "tamper-proof" wrenches to open the case. Bang for the buck ratio is still pretty high.

    Lightweight with good features

    I bought it to run a lengthy HO freight, but I didn't understand that it lacked the power to do a good job. I also have a small Z layout and I expect it will do a good job there.
