    .....the old ways,....

    Sometimes getting back to yer roots is necessary! To hear who inspired the musicians who inspired me...to hear the music in it's original form...invaluable! Now I have a whole 'nother group of artists to turn me on! (...as they did "the Dead")! Rev. Gary Davis...what a goldmine! Highly,....HIGHLY recommended!!!

    Dead Head's Dream

    This is the roots of the tunes the Dead picked up to cover. I am sure Jerry had lots to do with many of these choices. His background in American folk music contributed to the Dead's song style and to their choice of cover tunes. I actually thought a few of these tunes were original Dead tunes only to discover they were actually covers. Listen to the version of Cold Rain and Snow. It is wonderfully the same melody as the one we know and love, just much more rustic sounding. No real 'jams' per se on this record, but lots of great songs.

    The Music Never Stopped: Roots of the Grateful Dead Va

    Most of the music is quite good. There are a few that are not up topar. The one thing that I remember is that they were the original recordings.
