Junior Wells' Hoodoo Man Blues, the first blues album?
Released in 1965,Junior Wells' Hoodoo Man Blues is an historical first LP. The album, on the Delmark label is, according to the liner notes, "not only Junior Wells' first appearance on an LP but is damn near the first LP by a Chicago blues band." Whatever its place in history, the album is a red hot example of Chicago blues. Wells sings and plays with an unmatched intensity. Long time partner Buddy Guy lays down guitar licks that match Wells'intensity with their power. Jack Myers on bass and Billy Warren on drums provide a solid rhythm section. The songs on the album speak for themselves. Great Stuff here for blues fans. Snatch it Back and Hold It has a funky groove that wont quit. This is a must for Junior Wells and Buddy Guy fans!
