works great, removable burr rusts at plastic ring

So, after doing a lot of research, I settled on the Capresso Infinity. True to the reviews, the gear reduction motor turns the burrs much slower than many other models, which minimizes the heat transferred to the beans during grinding. Since I buy flavored coffee beans, I do clean the burrs every week or so since I have heard that the oils or other "stuff" in the coffee residue can go bad--that last thing I need with my coffee. They do include a small brush but I find that using a cheap toothbrush (standard or "hard to reach style" for back teeth) works best. As I noted in the title, I was not expecting the burr material to begin rusting after the first cleaning. The main issue here is where the ring is encased in the circular plastic housing used to move the top gear up and down. I learned my lesson and use the toothbrush and keep water use to a minimum. If you give it a "whack" on the side of the unit, that is typically sufficient to clear out the small bit of grounds that stay in the machine as the last bit of bean are ground. Overall, a solid value product that does what it says.

There are better grinders for the price.

The machine is not loud when grinding. That's the only plus. Does not grind course coffee. Is a pain to clean. When you pull the cup that holds the ground coffee from the grinder, coffee grounds go everywhere. Cord does not want to stay stored in base.

  • Good produce with a few problems

This grinder has two major design flaws. First, the cover for the bean container is invisible because it is so clear. Consequently it is easy to forget to remove it before pouring in the beans (especially in the morning before your first cup of coffee!) Spilled beans make a major mess. A tinted cover would be one means of avoiding this problem. Secondly, the removable ground coffee container allows some of the grounds to collect behind where the container has to be inserted which prevents the container from seating properly. This would not be a problem if there was an easy way to clean this area. Short of compressed air, I have not found an easy way to keep this area clean.

  • Perfect Solution

I was having trouble getting the beans ground fine enough for espresso, using my standard coffee grinder. This machine solved that problem. It can grind beans very fine. You don't need to spend more to get a quality grinder for espresso machines. It has a timer dial that allows you to work on something else while the beans grind. Then I tap the grinder to knock out the loose espresso, into the tray, and load it into the espresso machine. The grinder stays very clean. I'll never use my old grinder for espresso again. Capresso is the way to go!

  • quiet and high quality

I look hard for a real low rotations per minute(450rpm) grinder that is in my price range ,super quiet ,no heat, excellent grinding, easy to clean, conical commercial grade burrs, MECHANICAL TIMER(much more reliable in my opinion (I am an electronic tech!!!), the instructions are very smart written, read them carefully;don't think you know it all !!!

  • Well worth the price

Being a coffee snob I took the time to learn about burr grinders before buying. For ease of use, performance and price this conical grinder lives up to a twice a day, pot in the morning and pot in the evening, kind of use. 16 grind settings is ample for anyone and beats a blade grinder hands down. As far as the issue of static electricity keeping the grinds inside the collection box it's not that bad and your are provided a small brush to help clean assuming you're buying new. New to coffee grinding or experienced coffee junkies will be pleased with this investment.

  • Good grinder

love this grinder. It's quieter than my last Capresso. My only complaint is the built-up static after grinding. Don't open the bottom tray right away or you'll get a dusting of fine coffee grounds. Otherwise it's really nice.

  • Coffee grinder

So far the grinder is doing what it is designed to do. Adjustments are enough for the beginner like myself who does not want to spend a lot of money on something more precise. For the person who is looking to brew a very good cup of coffee I would highly recommend this grinder. The motor seems to be very strong. The dial on the front is a grind timer that can be set to turn the grinder on. I normally turn it to one and hold the dial there so that I can control the shut off when the beans have been all ground.

  • Capresso review

Have used this model for 15 years and needed a new base and motor. The new bottom burr significantly improved coffee grind uniformity compared to a 15 year old one. I had replaced the upper burr 2 years ago which helped as well. Not the easiest to clean well and 1-2 times/year I take the bottom burr out and clean well. Although the Mfg. doesn't recommend doing this it helps remove the stale smell. I do recommend this grinder.

  • Disappointed

It quit grinding after 3 weeks. Very disappointing. Tried every thing possible to clean grinding mechanism. I would not recommend this to anyone, And it cost a lot.
