Love the Model D. This is a great first synth for those who want to learn how to program. I had a Prophet-600 for decades but would always rely on the patches to get my base sounds. I sold it because I was afraid the patch membrane would crack and it would be worthless. The Model D sounds great, I love the knob quality and the filters sound great to me. For the price this is a no brained purchase. I did consider the Roland offering in their SE-02 but I don’t like their boutique audio setup. The digital driver replaced my audio driver and if I used digital I couldn’t route it through my mixer without having to use a mini adapter/splitter.

This is the best little mono synth that you will ever find at this price, its truly amazing!! Its based after the Moog Mini Moog as far as I can tell. minus the keybed. The Behringer Model D is built like a tank and seems they made it to last. Only one thing concerns me is . how can they make these "Model D's" without getting sued by Moog?? Years back Behringer made there little mixers to look much like the Mackie mixers and wound up in a big lawsuit.........just wondering.

There are a lot of reviews that will give you the details of the sound. Many agree the build quality is great, my only addition to that is just that the VCO octave and waveform selector switches have a slight jiggle that is just a part of the design of the switch it self and not an issue with the mounting of the part on the circuit board. Other than that none of the other knobs or switches have any noticeable movement. If you’ve never heard a minimioog model D in person there is something to hearing an analog synth in person than through compressed audio sources like youtube. For the general price of about 325.00 you are getting a lot of features for an insanely low price. As long as you don’t mind not having patch memory this is a synth you’ll grow to know and always have a use for if just for the 3 oscillators to add to your other synths in a mix. I’ve only had mine a few weeks and I’m already familiar enough with the controls that I can shape my sound practically in the dark. With the history of this synth you have tons of sources for patches to recreate the classic tones of the past and plenty of sonic range to keep you coming back eager to hear what you can get out of it next. I’ve owned both digital and analog synths in the years I’ve been a synth player and while I prefer a synth to have patch memory I have enjoyed the return to an all hands on synth that once your familiar with the ins and outs of the controls really has a feel of just playing an instrument and not some maze of sub menu options that can take away from the creative spontaneity that an all hands on synth gives you. So as long as the above mentioned limitations don’t dis-sway you I don’t think there is anything you could regret about purchasing the Behringer D. If you are new to synths this is a great synth to learn on, not just for simplicity but that sound is so rewarding when you wield it to your taste and that’s the sound that has kept the original in studios since it’s release. I am new to sound sinthesis, and I am new to the world of synthesizers. I read and viewed tons of reviews and demos of many synthesizers. Model D was one of shortlisted. When I opened and switched it on, I realised this instrument is mine. Being equiped very well, this synth is simple in controlling. I could figure out and played my first sequences. I was on the cloud #9! Endless sound modulation possibilities, wonderful sound, robust building, and connectivity. This instrument is must-have, if you need an analog synthesizer.

I own an original Model D and I can attest that this issue of it is as good if not in some ways better than the original.
