Overall, this is a great hard drive that I will use for many years.
This hard drive has a large amount of storage. 1TB of storage is the most I have ever owned. I am a Digital Media student and I use it for storing my project files from school, that are really big 1GB or more. I still have plenty of room on the hard drive. The fact that it is USB 3.0 makes storing and transferring files much faster than my older USB 2.0 hard drives.

Great value and performance in a small package.
This drive is remarkably small in physical size but very big on storage and speed. I am using this to store movie files and videos and to free-up some space on my primary drive. I love how lightweight and compact it is. The USB hookup couldn't be simpler. The only dislike I have is the bright blue LED that is constantly on and blinking. Would be better if this LED was on the top of the enclosure rather than the edge. Potable 1 TB Hard Drive works great on my HP PC
I bought this item to relieve my PC of crowded space. I needed more storage as my HP PC has 500GB and I store photos and videos on it which utilize lots of space (especially videos). I liked the storage capacity (1 TB)plus the ease of installing it on my PC. I just plugged in the USB, followed simple instructions (supplied) and that was it. Works great!

I have not had any recent experience with other external hard drives, so I cannot make a comparison. I connected it and it worked without any drama. Just like I hoped it would. I am satisfied with the drive and if I need another I will buy another one of these - or a subsequent WD model if I wait until this one is no longer available.
