About this product

Product Information

The Martin D-18 Dreadnought. An American classicIntroduced in 1931, the D-18 is the original 14-fret Martin dreadnought and still one of most popular instruments - especially among studio musicians. The combination of light, quartersawn mahogany sides and back, and large Dreadnought size produces an exceptionally well-balanced tone. The D-18 is loud, with a bright, clear treble and warm, moderate bass, which makes it ideal for both recording and stage work. Features include solid spruce top, rosewood bridge and fingerboard, black binding and pickguard, hand-shaped genuine mahogany neck, and chrome enclosed tuners. Everyone from Eric Clapton to Sting to Johnny Lang has played a Martin guitar, and professionals and amateurs alike know the bright sparkle and deep, resonant tone that Martin guitars have become famous for, from the most high end acoustics to the Backpacker.

    Awesome guitar

The fact its a Martin D-18 makes it desirable in itself. This is my second Martin Guitar, came in factory packing and case 2 days ahead of schedule in time for Christmas. It was a little out of tune but I didn't expect it to be anyway because of shipping. Sounds great and plays easy even with factory action setup. Only flaw I've seen so far is what looks like a razer blade cut across the pickguard. Overall a happy pikker!

  • Uniquely beautiful

I purchased a unplayed 2009 D-19GE recently, and I must say it is probably a guitar that has given me so many mixed feelings. The tone is very unique: each note is incredibly distinct even while strumming, and the ridiculously long (in a good way) sustain allows each note to pop out even more. At first, this bothered me because the guitar was in such new condition (even with new strings); the tone was very crispy and bright, while I desired more of a warm tone (although I did want a fair amount of clarity/brightness). I've had it for about a month now, and the tone has changed very favorably. The sound has rounded its sides a bit, and quite honestly, it sounds marvelous. I CANT WAIT until it ages over the years... it will sound AMAZING. I was torn between this guitar and ...

  • Very happy with the guitar and price I paid.

Received the guitar used but in new condition as far as finish etc. I changed the strings to the gauge I prefer which are Martin 12's PB and made a truss rod adjustment to accommodate the lesser tension. After sitting overnight and retuning the guitar just dialed in perfect, the action went from a high 6/32@12 to 3/32@12 no rattles or issues with high frets and it plays like a dream, and sounds like a Martin should. Workmanship as far as fit and finish is excellent. Love the guitar! The new D18 is one of the guitars Martin can really be proud of.

  • Martin D-18 Guitar (2017)

I have owned/played many acoustic guitars over the years. I own Martins, Taylor’s, a Guild, several Ibanez, Yamaha’s, Fenders.... This particular Martin D-18 is quite simply ... MAGNIFICENT! The tone, volume, action, feel, craftsmanship, the gorgeous mahogany and spruce .....I had the good sense to add this 2017 version of the D-18 to my collection. Money very well spent. JS

  • 2011 Martin D18

I love this guitar, it's the best guitar I ever played. The action is nearly like an electric guitar and it's clear and the sustain is awesome.
