Brother MFC-240C All-In-One Inkjet Printer
I am so pleased with this printer. The print quality is excellent and the print cartridges are readily available on eBay for a great price. Actually, this is the second time I purchased this exact model printer. The first one I purchased I had for approximately 18 years before the black print became fuzzy. I was so thrilled to find another one on eBay after all these years and I readily purchased it. Not only is this a printer but also a copier and a fax machine. I highly recommend this printer/copier and fax machine! I don't think you'll be disappointed.I am so pleased with this printer. The print quality is excellent and the print cartridges are readily available on eBay for a great price. Actually, this is the second time I purchased this exact model printer. it's just OK
when we received it it was covered with black ink powder which probably happened in the transportation, our hand were black with the ink powder. It works fine but the quality of print is not good, it is very blurry, it's a color printer and they colors are not true, we think maybe it's because of the ink cartridge that was in it when shipped. We are hoping that this clears up. We don't do a lot of printing so it will server its purpose for the price we paid. The pictures I posted were taken after we cleaned most of it up. The ink powder was on EVERYTHING even all over my table clothwhen we received it it was covered with black ink powder which probably happened in the transportation, our hand were black with the ink powder. It works fine but the quality of print is not good, it is very blurry, it's a color printer and they colors are not true, we think maybe it's because of the ink cartridge that was in it when shipped. Decided to try the MFC-240c because I have the brother MFC-5860cn at work on my personal desk, 2 drawers 33.6 fax, good paper handling and printing. This model the MFC-240C has a slower fax 14.4, one paper drawer, fewer pages input capacity in the auto-document feeder, slower PPM but basically it is a good machine for home or low volume scanning, printing, faxing etc. That is why I bought it and use it for home, low volume, no rush. On sale new at Office Depot 6-1-08 for about $60 plus or minus, regularly $99.00. Very satisfactory for home use. Software bundle includes Paper Port SE, great software for scaning and converting to multi-formats including OCR. Linux users can download from Brother.com the LPR and CUPSwrapper drivers here: ... For this and other software issues, I gave up the Ubuntu 64bit OS for the 32 bit OS, and glad I did, end of endless work-arounds. Anyway, nice little multi-function printer, good price, works dependably just below it's claimed speeds (as to all printers etc.). OH beware the generic refill ink cartridge suppliers, none of them, I have found, fit or work on the Brother MFC-240C or MFC-5860m physically won't fit in the printer and don't have the nozzles required. Bulk ink OK, but if you are buying this little MFC, high volume is not an issue or you would upgrade. Buy the Brother cartridges, yield tolerable price intolerable. Cheers!

looks good and acts like it is working. It could be my non-expertise or possibly the ubuntu program that is the problem. It does the commands and loads the paper and goes through the printing process but the pages are blank? New black ink cartridge! Have Replaced all ink cartridges with new ones. After the machine did its cleaning process many-many times, finally it did print in a blurry black. Will not print in color nor communicate with the computer. It does look new but that doesn't help. Older printer, not sure it will work
Ink cartridges that came with the printer will not work, they are full but the printer says it is out of ink. Computer would not recognize the printer, worked on this for 3 hrs to try and install driver. So far printer is not working, had to order ink cartridges. Hoping this will work when I install new ink cartridges.
