It's old school and it works!
These units when you find them are very hard to select the grind if the feed canister has never been removed. What usually happens is the coffee dust particles make it up into the threads between the body and the feed cannister. So what to do? Remove the feed cannister from the body. Just remember looking from above, righty tighty, lefty loosy. The clicks you hear are plastic spring detents as you loosen the cannister they will become visible in the gap. It takes about 10 turns or more for the cannister to come off. Your next job is to clean the threads of the built coffee dust off both the body and the cannister. Use an old tooth brush but not steel or bronze as you might fuss the threading. Once its all done use a light mineral oil on a cloth to lightly coat the nylon-plastic threads and ... (Crossthread it and that's the end of the unit). Oh, and while the unit was still apart you could get an air pressured can, the type you use for cleaning a computer keyboard of dust, and give both burrs an air blast cleaning. One last thing. I forgot if Braun on this unit had a standby instant on. You can tell if their units have a vampire load by handling it after it has been plugged in for a while. If it is warm, you should go to a electrical parts store and buy a electrical plug that has a toggle switch built in and plug the unit into it so you can save that energy each time you finish. Those vampire loads are a electric company's dream. It's like a plug it in air freshener. Imagine people buy two for a home. Might only be 2 watts of power consumed. But now imagine 50 million homes using it. That's one hundred million watts of power just to make a house smell or the power of a small modular nuclear reactor. Waste not, want not is an old adage but it makes sense in a greenhouse gas emitting world. It's a climate emergency. Time to make, wake up and smell the coffee. Mmmm, coffeeee.

Great burr grinder!
I bought one of these used at a yard sale. My husband used it every morning for several years...eventually burnt out the motor. When I looked for new burr grinders they were expensive, bulky, and ugly. Was so happy to find another second hand one on ebay. I especially like its small size. Fantastic!
