Full of stories and even an apron pattern is included. So easy to follow that even a novice can be happy with the results. Make a table runner or a purse using the template pattern. Read about the history of those that came before us. A feel good book even if you don't sew but can appreciate the beautiful art of quilting and sewing.

Fussy and complicated instructions make this book a poor choice for a beginner. I've been making quilts for many years and was hoping to pick up a few tips for authentic 1930's quilts. No such luck. I used to watch Eleanor Burn's public tv show and had high hopes for a great book.

I bought this quilt book because my quilt guild is using some of the patterns for our block of the month projects. I am very glad I bought it! There are some wonderful patterns and most are not difficult. The spiral binding is super, I wish more quilt books would do that. I like the history and extra information included. If you use your imagination you could make some wonderful quilts using more modern style fabrics...not just reproduction fabrics. It's a super quilt book and a must have for serious quilters, a staple in any quilt pattern collection and sure to become a classic in the world of quilting.
I love traditional quilts and Eleanor Burns offers a delightful way to make many traditional quilts, without as much fuss as the original patterns. I highly recommend this book. It's also fun to see the photos and read the descriptions!

This is by far the best quilt information I have ever purchased! It is all about the 1930's. She is very delightful and entertaining to listen to and watch. With every quilt block lesson, she changes into a different apron made in the thirties and tells a wonderful story about it. As she is going through the instruction, she tells stories about life in the 1930's. She talks about how people lived, what they wore, life in the depression era, and lots of history. She also has many examples of original quilts made in the thirties and the history and stories behind them. By following her methods, you can literally make, a quilt in a day! I have watched the DVD at least four times and loved it! This is not counting the numerous times I have brought it to friends houses to view as well. I also bought her rulers on Ebay and her book on her website. One definitley needs the book for yardage information. I would suggest anyone who wants to learn the latest and greatest methods of quilting to buy this DVD. Its fantastic!Read full review
