Works well, but don't expect 500Mbs
I bought this set to add to a previous set of Zyxel powerline adapters from the same series (PLA4205 and PLA4225). I did not find the two sets to be plug and play. I had to rename the network on all units to match, then all units communicated. I did plug all 4 of my units together on a Power Squid outlet splitter to set encryption, then moved them to the various outlets they were to go in the house. I see about 50 Mbs connection speed even between the units on the same circuit. I am not sure the rated 500 Mbs is a reasonable expectation in any normal installation. I do use one of the Powerline adapters to feed an ATT Microcell transmitter in my attic. I live in an area where cell phone coverage is fairly poor. I find my cell phone voice performance is very good through the Microcell so the ... I bought this set to add to a previous set of Zyxel powerline adapters from the same series (PLA4205 and PLA4225). Computers connected to the other Powerline adapters seem to be slightly slower opening web pages and on downloads than computers connected directly to Ethernet, but it beats tearing out drywall to run wire to those locations. I am not streaming video and there are not multiple users loading up the Powerline network. I did set the priority in Zyxel utility to High for router connected unit and the unit feeding my Microcell. The computer connected units are set to Normal priority. If you want Plug and Play, it is possible from a boxed set. Otherwise it is likely some intermediate computer skills will be required to set up network naming and to adjust priorities within the network. As seems to be typical the manual leaves something to be desired in explaining the process. These are older units and I chose them only because I knew they would be compatible with my previous units. I am sure newer models will provide improved performance, but these were good enough for my purposes.
