Bought it used and it works great. I like the locking function and so far had never had any issues with pocket calls. Since it is locked to Verizon's service, they leave quite a bit to happy about with their policies about what you can do with the phone as they want to make money in every direction. If one only needs it for calls and text messages, one will not be unhappy. I blocked the data capability as I do not need it so I cannot tell anyone about that functionality, but it keeps the bill lower.Bought it used and it works great. Not compatible with Verizon Backup Assistant; non-standard charging plug
The phone's software works neither with VBA, nor with Verizon's cloud-based Contacts backup feature (this is verified by a visit to a Verizon store for help). Manually loading contacts thru the micro SD gives you a sea of phone numbers only, without names, but only after manually putting the contacts (individual vcf files) into a re-named folder, using a PC. Result is that we have to manually enter all new contact info, then do periodic manual backups to a micro SD. It's an okay phone.
I've been owning this phone for a few years and have to say I like it, but don't. Here's what I have to say about it: If you want nothing but HTC phones then don't even go near this one, but if you want a "nicer" phone but don't have the cash then you might want to consider buying this phone. It has no apps, like all the other phones out there, no WiFi and the battery life sucks, but once this phone is tweaked it can be a pretty good phone. The features for this camera is actually better than the iPhone 3, it has your all your camera settings when the iPhone 3 has none. Yes the pixel rate is low, so make sure you don't intend for protrait sized photos. You can also ramp up the speed of your picture taking by turning flash off & setting the preview off, turn autoshot off, auto focus off, ... Everyone says they can't put music ring tones on this phone without buying, which is true. But that's why you go to MyMxer.com, upload your music for free, edit & send to your phone via message (& your phone asks in the message if you want it as a ringtone), all free of charge & easy. I have tons of video on this phone, but that's because I bought Aura DVD Ripper Professional (for only 20$) & use it to burn just about any movie onto this phone. Just put the settings on Mobile Phone MPEG-Movie & move the frame size up to 320x240, make sure your Micro SD is a large size, about 4GB or higher & your set. Battery life can by nipped in the bud by making sure you have your charger with you & one in the car including a portable AA battery operated charger for your pocket or purse. This phone does have it's issues, it's not so great with browesing the web, but after your tweaking it can turn into a pretty good phone. And in honesty, I am upgrading to an iPhone but am aiming for the iPhone 4 because of it's camera features (HTC is so-so for me & don't want a bulky android). However, if I get stuck with the 3G, which is what I don't want, I will keep this Samsung Rogue for it's camera snapping abilities. Going on vacation in October, & this phone will be my camera & video camera.

I like this phone. Its basic, NOT a smartphone and thats what I was looking for. HOWEVER because it is capable of using internet and such things called WIDGETS (like apps before apps) Verizon REQUIRES the $9.99 a month data and email plan. Stupid if you ask me because the internet isnt this phones HIGH point and facebook on this device is very smal and difficult to opperate, coming from years of smartphones in the past. I love the slide out keyboard and the touch screen options its easy to use and VERY VERY basic. a good brand name and a good product over all. Just be advised that this phone is not like a smartphone and it is not a top choice for people who like internet on the go. OH AND NO WIFI! Only bluetooth.I like this phone. Decent phone, but reception is lacking
I got this based on the many rave reviews on CNet. I had a Motorola Barrage (V860) and wish I would have kept it for one reason: reception ability. The V860 did a much better job of pulling in a signal. In places where the V860 would get 1 bar and be usable (could hold a call ok), the Convoy drops completely and says "searching for service". Otherwise it's an okay phone. I don't think it is nearly as rugged as the V860, it lacks immersion rating, and the battery cover is flimsy and lacks an O-ring. The latch also is easy to rotate. I could see it coming loose carried on a duty belt. Rugged? Don't think so. Other than the construction and reception issues, the phone has excellent battery life, much better than the V860. No tone controls or equalizer, and it's pretty clumsy. It also doesn't get loud when using a stereo headset. The screens also have very high resolution and are easy to see. The keypad is probably the best I've ever used on a standard (non-keyboard) phone. Tactile feel and easy to operate, even with gloved hands. The PTT button, however, is oddly placed at the top left corner. It's red, and I first mistook it as a power switch. It's a small square size and in a strange place for a PTT switch. It is also easily actuated if the phone is carried in a pouch as you have a tendency to grip the top sides when pulling it out. Overall, it's an okay phone but the mediocre reception and build quality make me wish I would have kept the V860. I hope the new owner is happy with it. I will be scouting for another one.
