Okay. I just wanted to go newer on my MB and this was one choice. It does seem to be a little bit slower than the i5 3.2mhz that was in it however, I was beginning to doubt a safe boot every time. The difference is noticeable but not too bad compared. Have new ram on the way. Also looking into overclocking this i7 but because it's out of support the apps I'm finding also do not support it any longer. It's a Dell and I do not have access to all the bios settings I see on YT. Still looking.Okay. I just wanted to go newer on my MB and this was one choice. This processor is very fast. I have been using it for almost 3 weeks now or practically a month now and so far no I have not had any problems. This thing apparently has EIGHT processing cores, which I didn't know about while I was using it. I like how it even has the built-in turbo boost, feature. No software installation or computer knowledge is needed for the turbo Boost feature, it built right-in, just monitoring software (if needed). By the way, the turbo boost from what I have seen, can go up to about 3.48ghz and down a again during several seconds , while in use. THIS CPU IS ABOLUTELY AWESOME. Plays Fallout 3 and other intense video games, a hell of a lot better than previous built processors made by Intel. It very efficient in regards to computing power. If you were to take the ... It's worth every penny, 100% of it. :) I don't have any dislike about it, so far.

Installed easily, worked perfectly, and is very fast for an older processor. Built my sister a better desktop than she has. Installed ii in an older MSI H55M-E21 motherboard (spare board), and was very surprised at how quick it is. Completed the system build, and checked the Windows Experience Index (Windows 7 - 64bit) rating as 7.4 out of a max of 8.0. Very pleased!

This is an amazingly fast chip. The combination of Hyperthreading and a faster Turbo Boost makes this chip faster than the Core i7 920 in most benchmarks. The differences are especially stark single-threaded applications because the 860 regularly runs at 3.33 Ghz in single-threaded apps yielding a 15-20% increase over non-turbo mode. That means - for regular desktop and game usage- this chip will crush the 920 since most apps are at most optimized for dual-core setups. In addition, 1156 socket motherboards are $50-100 cheaper than 1366 motherboards. I upgraded from a Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz chip and the difference is incredible. I've included some benchmarks below. The Core i7 is highly efficient at video encoding/decoding compared to C2 Duo/Quad chips. See benchmarks below. Excellent ... This is an amazingly fast chip. Power usage only slightly higher than some Core 2 Duos. Uses 20-30W less system-wide on idle than a i7 920, and more at lo. Compare this to the i7-920 and you'll see that this is a great processor, made better by the price.

I choosed 1156 setup, only because it supports faster memory(1333) and much more energy efficient copare to 1366 CPUs. 1366 CPUs support only 1066Mhz, but tri channel memory, which is much better for things like video editing/encoding and 3D rendering(maybe). So if you are a gamer and need a PC to browse online, play video games and watch movies, get Intel i5-750 and spend $100 more for video card (hd 5850 should do it). However, the I7-860 has 4 cores/8 threads, 4.8GT/s (i5-750 performs at 2.5GT/s (as far as I know), has 4 cores but only 4 threads) - so i7 - 860 is a better multi-tasker and only like 10% slower compare to his bigger brother i7-870 which is almost twice $$.
