The part came fast and i had my washer up and going in no time and i must say so far so good and the only thing i would advise is take your time to make sure that the coupling is all the way flush or it want work right and it will give off a burning smell to let you know it's not on properly...all you need is a hammer and a socket to knock it all the way on and i mean all the way flush i can't express that enough so with that been said i want to thank you guys for saving me a lot.....

I Replaced this coupler while rebuilding an old washer. Five wash loads later the connector on the motor side cracked in half, failed. I had saved the original coupler part and reused it to replace this new part. The previous design of the coupler is a solid round connector and this new one is a thin triangle shape. The failure is at the motor shaft input hole it stress cracked off one ear of the connector. This is my experience and my opinion is to look for the solid round design, not this one.

The motor coupler is just like the OEM ones and might be fine for medium size machines. It doesn't have the metal inserts which I ended up having to use instead for my mid 90's Super Capacity Washer because this stopped the nylon from cracking/breaking. BUT the metal insert hole doesn't fit on as snug and SO it eventually stripped/rounded my transmission's input shaft because of its loose fit. Causing me to have to force a sheet metal screw in between which kept slipping. Eventually I had to weld the inside shaft to the metal insert.. SO if you end up using the ones with the metal insert, if it goes on loose on either your motor or transmission shafts, then, I STRONGLY recommend you simply: Coat the shaft with some super glue then sprinkle with baking soda. THEN when you install the coupler, its metal insert should fit the shaft tightly now, you should be safe to use it now. These old washers were great units, I'm keeping mine going for now, everyone in the house loves it's a work horse. Take careRead full review

REF Model # LA5700XSW1 WHIRLPOOL Washer Installed easily (carefully aligned & tapped white pieces onto shafts until flush) & working fine now; long term=we will see; IMHO the metal inserts on "other new designs" (285753A) present more risk than benefit (better to replace this direct drive coupler than risk damage to motor & transmission drive shafts).

Exactly what I needed to fix the issue. The replacement part was cheap and arrived a day early. It took longer for my roommate to find a working washer on Craigslist, which he immediately returned because the bad smell inside wouldn't go away after running multiple cycles.
