About this product

Product Information

One of the weakest ports in the formidable Atari 5200 library, Galaxian is faster than -- but in no way better than -- the 1979 arcade classic of the same name. It lacks the methodical gameplay and precision shooting of the original in favor of a quicker, more herky-jerky type of action. In addition, the ship is squatty, the non-centering joysticks keep the ship moving even when you don't want it to, and the audio effects are pathetic (what happened to the cool missile sounds?). Stick with the vastly superior ColecoVision port, or, to be really adventurous, try Galactic Invasion for the Bally Astrocade.

  • Galaxian is a great game on the 5200!

I love this game! The Atari 5200 has some issues with its controllers, but this game plays great on this system. Galaxian is an arcade classic and the Atari 5200 version is really close to the arcade version. This game is easy to findmand very affordable so if you have an Atari 5200 then you should have Galaxian in you game collection.
