About this product

Product Information

Kiln forming glass-melting cut or crushed glass together in a kiln until it becomes a single piece and shaping the glass with molds-has quickly become one of the most popular subjects in studio glasswork. This comprehensive introduction features projects both beautiful and practical that are sure to appeal to all beginning glassworkers. It covers all of the fundamentals, such as fusing, slumping and draping, as well as some intermediate and advanced techniques, including pot melting, inclusions, mold-making and more. There's also advice on decorative surface treatment of the finished piece, and an invaluable troubleshooting section. Nineteen exquisite projects, arranged by skill level, range from home décor items, like a wall sconce and fountain, to sculpture, and even an amber glass pendant.

  • Great Book, Very Detailed, A Must for New Kiln Users!

I borrowed this book along with several others from the library. I have had a kiln for years but haven't used it often enough to recall all the details. But this book give you all the details. It was the best book I have found so far. Loads of details, designs, step-by-step information, fantastic pictures, just about everything you need to know is covered in this book. Not just for beginners either, perfect for those of us that have done some things but want to expand our kiln use with new and clever ideas. Very easy to follow, nicely detailed, without being overwhelming. This is the only book I have actually purchased from the dozen or so that I recently reviewed from the library. A MUST HAVE if you enjoy trying new project and new ideas. The perfect book for first time to ...

  • Great Starter's Book

If you are new to fusing glass or just wanting to brush up on some of the finer points, this is the book for you. Well written, good pictures and descriptions. The author has obviously spent a long time learning her craft and this shows. She gives good advice on things to do as well as ways to avoid or fix mistakes.

  • Not just for beginners

  • Not what I was looking for but still useful.

I was looking for a book that would help me learn the process of fusing small pieces for jewelry making. Since I couldn't find one I bought this book. Since i am a beginner it was somewhat helpful but still not what I was looking for. It seems that I am going to just have to learn by trial and error.

  • Fabulous encouragement for novice

Getting started as a glass artist I find this book encouraging and informative, helpful in making decisions on my own about products and great examples to mimic. I am so glad I purchased this book, now I am on my way to creating great art glass pieces, thankyou for clear instruction and great ideas.
