Exactly what was listed. In original box. Seller said it was brand new and it was. It came two days later than what my tracking said but there was alot of bad storms coming out of reno so not the sellers fault.

    still a non-HD workhorse

I've had about twenty of these over the years and shoot HD now BUT I can't think of a better or more versitile camera for the budding documentary film maker. They get good picture quality without being noticed. I've had to throw them down and run for safety a couple of times in the Amazon when I was filiming where I should not have been. Small loss. I have given several of these to youngsters starting out and they have proved to be an excellent learning tool. And best of all-the one I bought on E Bay was brand new! A hundred bucks for a camera that originally cost over a thousand and was the high tech camera of the day. Still love it as my carry camera for certain gigs, although my Go Pro is taking over some of my clandestine filming...Highly recommended. Cheap enough to give away or ...

  • decent camcorder, excellent analog to digital capture

the sony dcr-trv25 is a decent digital home movie camcorder, not the best in low light situations, but delivers good results in daylight. My favorite feature isn't the video quality, I actually purchased this as an analog to digital converter: Old video conversion – just connect any analog NTSC video source (like your VCR) to the camcorder’s analog A/V inputs ( including SVHS) and commence recording. Analog NTSC video can also be passed through your camcorder directly into your computer (with compatible software) via the i.LINK (IEEE 1394) interface in real time for computer editing of your analog footage. This Digital Handycam uses 14 bit processing for improved analog to digital conversion, saving your old analog videos to digital format.

  • Nice unit

The unit works very well. PROS: You can tape directly to a memory stick and then transfer it to a MacBook or iBook very easily, so sending a online movie greeting or creating something for You Tube is a snap. LCD is quite clear. Lens is a very good one. 10X is adequate for practically any application. CONS: I found that the button or turning the unit on and then recording is not nearly as easy to operate as the ones on the many other units that I have owned. They just don't seem to be in a good place. The zoom control mechanism is far too sensitive. You really have to be careful as it zooms way to fast. Even with the criticisms, I think it deserves an EXCELLENT rating.

  • Machine works, so happy!

So far, it’s working as expected. It only works while plugged in but that’s okay for video transfer. I forgot to check if it has a video display but the Click transfer unit displays our Hi8 videos. All in all, very happy.

  • Great older SD camcorder

The Sony DCR-TRV25 is an excellent older standard definition prosumer camcorder, with manual controls for white balance, exposure, and focus, with firewire output. I've purchased a number of them for two colleges where I teach, and they are still the basic SD camcorder I usually recommend to beginning video students. I've used one for years, and was happy to be able to replace it with an inexpensive used one when the tape transport on my original TRV25 stopped working.
