Call of Duty, easily the best WWII shooter series, has had a console game before, with Finest Hour. Big Red One tops it easily, using a much better story technique, focusing on one group instead of the normal American, British, and Russian ones. Gameplay is very solid, and the controls are excellent. Graphics are pretty good, and the sound is excellent. But this game is very, very short (like 4 hours long), and leaves a lot to be desired. The end cutscene (I won't give away any story) sums up everything the Big Red One did. But you didn't do half of this, and you feel jipped.
My eight year old loves this game. He had Call of Duty I and had played all the levels and begged for this game. I am very disappointed in the foul language (much profanity is used) in this game. Call of Duty I did not have the extent of bad language in it (if any) that is contained in Call of Duty II. I would have thought twice about buying had I known about the language content. The game screens are very lifelike and he (along with my mom) are able to correctly identify the different types (and names) of many military vehicles now. I'd say the game is somewhat educational in that sense and I hear from my son that it is more challenging than Call of Duty I.
excellent graphics, great WW II action scenarios, many different weapons used, and many different things you have to do to complete your mission. Realistic conflicts with excellent battle works. Gotta be quick with your reflexes to get in the first shot!! Drive a tank like the devil himself... I would recommend this game to anyone in a short heartbeat... very fun and this game challenges you through enticing your interests! This game gives you the sense that you wish you never have to quit playing. This game also helps teach some values in common every day life such as the value of teamwork, how to and when to work well with others, keeping your thoughts and wits about yourself so that you do not give up easily, and that great aspect we know as stick-to-itive-ness.
Call of Duty 2 Big Red One is an FPS released for the GameCube. The single-player experience is great and would recommend this to anyone into FPS titles.

This is the first army game I have owned ever, but not the first I have played. The levels are pretty long, and the auto-save feature can be frustrating at times. But the Graphics are sweet. Great historical storyline. 12 action packed levels varying from mostly land to air to sea. One cool thing about this game is your squad actually can be injured, help you,and they actually cause damage to the enemies. Some language but hey what do you expect it's the army! Great game, I plan to buy more Call of Duty games. All in all, it's all I would have expected from a WWII shoot 'em up! A+++++!
My 10 year old grandson was spending the night with me, and as always when he is here we spent a lot of the evening shopping on line (he knows Pappaw is easy). He purchased the game and I think after only 1 day he would call every day to see if it came in the mail. When he got it he used it immediately and plays it often by himself and his friends. He is 1000 percent satisfied and could not be happier with the game. As far as my assessment (a very small price to pay to see such a huge smile on the face of a child). A+++++++++
This game is filled with action. You can ride on tanks, half-tracks and other cars. You can use guns from the other army, sniper enemies, and throw granades and watch them fly. But this game only has about 12 levals and no mutiplayer. If you want to get a great game, i would highly recommend this game.
I was amazed at how good this game was especially on my older Game Cube. I've played similar games on Xbox 360 so I know what great graphics and game play are like, this GC version of CoD: Big Red One is very impressive for it's overall look and game play. It has a lot to offer and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good WWII first-person shooter game. I played it on the 'easy' setting and still had a lot of challenges to overcome in order to complete the game.
My 10 year old son wanted this game because his firend had it and it was exciting to play. We got it by mail on Thursday, and by the next Thursday, my son had the game mastered and the scenarios complete. Now...on to the next game, I suppose. This game should be made more difficult, or longer. Perhaps I should have encouraged him to get the Call of Duty 3??? In all fairness, he did have lots of fun playing this game for 8 days.
I must say call of duty 2 big red one is one of the most compelling and spectacular video games on the subject of the second world war that I have played in a very long time since I was always an medal of honor fan when I heard call of duty was releasing an similar WWII inspired game I was intrigued and yet apprehensive and yet after taking some time playing game after purchasing it I must say iam beyond impressed and this game is up there among the higher echelons of gaming titles and looking forward to future installments tis a shame the later entries in the series doesn't share the same spirit of quality and craftsmanship and finesse as the this one and the original game these days it's quantity over quality but in the end I give call of duty 2 big red one an 10/10.
