In this acclaimed TV dramedy, comedian Denis Leary plays Tommy Gavin, a New York fireman coping with the events of 9/11 and his own personal demons: drinking, a painful separation from his wife, and visions of his dead cousin. The other firefighters at 62 Truck aren't faring much better. Chief Reilly has a compulsive gambling addiction, ladies'-man Franco Rivera lives life fast and dangerous, and "Lou" Shea simmers with bottled-up frustrations. Season three picks up after the death of Tommy's young son at the end of the last season, endangering his already tenuous relationship with his wife. His extended family isn't making his life any easier, with his uncle (Lenny Clarke) in prison and his father (Charles Durning) in poor health. Tommy seeks solace in the arms of his brother's ex-wife (Oscar winner Marisa Tomei) and his late cousin's widow (Callie Thorne). This season also features guest appearances from Academy-Award-winning actresses Susan Sarandon and Tatum O'Neal. Leary and Emmy-winning Peter Tolan (THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW) write the gripping and darkly humorous show, which resonates with Leary's real life--his cousin, a firefighter, died in a tragic 1999 warehouse fire.

This is a great, down in the trenches, series of NY firefighters. An about time look at the personal life of a big city firefighter. How the stress and tragities effect his life, both in the fire house and off the job. This is a WELL acted series, that plays with all your emotions, but keeps you cheering for the sucess of the individual characters. My only complaint would be the excessive sex in the earlier episodes, but that's coming from one who is in this sixties....Hats off to Denis Leary. worth repeating
Rescue Me has humour as well as real drama...mixed into it are fallbacks from season one of Tommy's character seeing dead people which I think at first had some merit but now seem to distract. It is dark as soot so i guess that indicts anyone who actually enjoys and would want to retain the series to refer back to in future seasons. guilty. Rescue Me, Season 3
This is the best season yet, great writing and story lines. The acting is super, and each episode is excepional. If you haven't seen any of the previous seasons, I would suggest trying to watch them 1st, but if you aren't interest in all that catching up, go ahead and watch this season. It doesn't take long to figure out who's who and what's up with these wacky, funny, and wonderful cast mates. A++ entertainment!This is the best season yet, great writing and story lines. Rescue Me DVD
After watching Season one of Rescue Me I became a die hard fan of the show. I got season one for a gift while I was watching Season 2 so knew I had to keep buying them to watch again later. I am waiting for Season 4 to come on DVD and will buy that also. The show is terrific and the DVD has extras like gag reels, interviews with the stars, and much more. Well worth the money!
