Good, informative and encouraging read.
I purchased this book because of the good things I have heard of the Moores. I have only read a little way in the book so far but am enjoying it. I have been homeschooling for a while so there were some areas I skipped simply because of the knowledge I already have. I like their encouraging style, and straight-forwardness. There are stories throughout, which I think is very helpful to a homeschooling family. This is a great book to read and keep on your bookshelf for reference. This book along with For the Children's Sake by Susan Schaeffer-Macaulay (my absolute favorite), Teach Your Own by John Holt, and Weapons of Mass Instruction by John Taylor Gatto are the mainstays on my bookshelf and are great reads for anyone starting out in homeschooling.I purchased this book because of the good things I have heard of the Moores. This book helped me 20 years ago to get my brain wrapped around homeschooling and to really just calm down! I recommend it to everyone that approaches me about homeschooling ever since....it's a must read if you have any intentions of homeschooling.

I love this book. As a veteran homeschooler, there are times that homeschooling can see very overwhelming. Life gets crazy. Well, this book can breathe some relaxation and asurance to your homeschooling venture. The Moore's give a refreshing new look at something that we all know to be a tried and true "method" of teaching our children. I really recommend this book. But, i urge you to steer clear if you are the textbook mentality as it will not give you any encouragement. But, if you are looking for a new way of doing things or looking for a more relaxing approach, then this is the book for you!!! Enjoy!!!I love this book. Wonderful homeschool manual
Most useful homeschool resource available.It contains the Moore Formula for which there is no substitute.It gives you the reasons why and the methods for homeschooling.I purchased it after reading their book "Home Spun Schools" which is another excellent resource.I have used the Moore's resources for nearly 17 years and they opened a whole new world of education to us.

Great little books for brand new readers!
Great for very beginning readers; repetition of words and phrases. The text is predictable because of the pictures, so non-readers can "read" the books and feel proud while learning some words at the same time.
