This game is basically unknown to most people and it's one of the best kept secrets on the Xbox. First of all, it's a Grand Theft Auto wannabe but a great one with lots of personality and attitude. The game is structured like GTA in that you have three cities to explore and have missions to accomplish along with side missions and mini games which are optional. In this game, you're always in a vehicle driving and shooting or manning a machine gun on said vehicle. Your missions involve destroying other cars that are driven by rival gang members or collecting various items, following other cars without being seen etc.. Again, very similar to GTA but well implemented. The cars range from sports cars to vans and various kinds of trucks. The fact that you can't go on foot like GTA and other GTA clones might put you off but the car controls are so smooth that it's a blast to play. PROS: -- Great storyline and characters. Gangs and characters are creative and the game doesn't take itself too seriously. In fact, it has a more fantasy-like vibe than GTA. -- Lots of violence and cursing with everything in between (could be a con as well). This game is HARDCORE -- for example there is a stat screen similar to GTA and on there you can see how many old people you ran over and killed among many other things. Bad taste? Yes, but as I said the game doesn't take itself seriously. -- Lots of low brow humor; check out those billboards and store fronts! -- Great graphics and killer soundtrack with radio stations which range from various styles of music to hilarious and absurd talk radio with a parody of Rush Limbaugh. Great classic rock station with songs that are also present on the GTA: Vice City soundtrack. -- Super smooth and fast controls, great gameplay. CONS: -- Might be too violent and vulgar to some. -- Might be too derivative for others. In short, if you like Grand Theft Auto and don't mind a lower budget knockoff that's very well made pick this up now and you won't regret it. This game is a true cult item. I nearly had as much fun playing Roadkill as I did Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.Read full review
RoadKill is great game that is most commonly compared to Grand Theft Auto, but the RoadKill is more comparable to Twisted Metal(TM). RoadKill is a vehicle shooter just like TM and also has a dark feel to it and definitely lives up to it's Mature rating. Where it differs from TM though is that it is a free roaming game. The city is alive and eventful with gang fights and pedestrians. You can upgrade your vehicle with various guns and parts. The graphics hold up nicely and the voice acting is top notch. The radio station has great classic rock songs like "Don't Fear the Reaper" & "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" and the DJ is a nice added touch. Roadkill is game I'd recommend to someone looking for a dark, Twisted Metal-like game that brings some new ideas to the formula and does it well.
Rarer game that is lots of fun... Great soundtrack, worth the money.
