Perfect for using your 7-speed cassettte on an 8-speed hub freewheel
If you still have your favorite 7-speed cassette but now have a new 8-speed freehub rear wheel, this is an excellent quality spacer for the conversion. Just put this on the freehub first, then put on your 7-speed cassette. Adjust your rear derailleur's limit screw so that it stops at the "second gear" so that the chain doesn't drop into the cavity on the freehub where the spacer is. Easy-peasy. It doesn't matter if your shifter is a top-mount thumb shifter or any of the rapid-fire models, your new "first gear" position is where the old "second gear" position was. This spacer is high quality and low price. Perfect for putting a 7 speed cassette on an 8 speed hub
This item worked exactly as expecting and required no filing or other modifications for use with a SRAM cassette. I also read that it is supposed to go on the inside of the cassette, but to improve the alignment on the particular bike I am using it was better suited for the outside. This worked just fine and caused no issues.

Basic spacer, not splined
Good for what it clearly is, just didn't realize I needed a spacer with shimano freehub splines. Fits on exterior of splines but won't go all the way to the inside of cassette body. I just put it on the outer side of cassette instead and adjusted derailleur limits.
