    Well built

    I give a 5 Star rating not because for the ease of use but for the possibilities the machine offers. With 14 different stitches, it will suit all my projects. The Singer Professional 5 Serger is just like jumping from the little league to the big one. The key word to really appreciate this machine is “practice”. The first challenge is threading. By chance there are excellent videos on the net for the book (I mean the printed copy include in the box) is really not enough. There is a CD (also include in the box) where you find more information about the threading of all the stitches this machine can execute, but because the pictures and drawings are of low resolution, it is difficult to get a good understanding. Once again one can find excellent videos on the net. This is something Singer ...

    Singer Serger 5 thread pro

    There is a steep learning curve with this model due to having two lower loopers and multiple settings to learn for the many stitches. I mainly needed a basic 4 thread overlock and the machine came set up with a cover stitch using three needles. Impressive but a beast to get converted. I am very satisfied with the machine otherwise.

    So many great features but definitely not a starter serger

    The good: It is the most versatile machine I have owned So many stitches! So many feet! Operates quite smoothly and quietly once it is set up. Self threading on the loopers so less need for tweezers than other sergers I have used The self threading loopers don't come un-threaded which is a problem I have had with other self threading sergers The not Bad but be aware: Changing to the different stitches can be a bit tricky, it is a much more intricate machine than your standard serger. I don't think this would be a good first serger, it helps to know and be comfortable with a standard serger already. Pay close attention to the DVD which comes with it and be patient when changing stitches. I have used it for quite a few different garments and I am very happy with my purchase.

    Great stitch options

    After I got over the initial complexity of which needle location and what threads to use for a specific stitch it all worked flawlessly. I am very happy with so many stitch options out of one machine. The only thing that might have made it better would be to have a DVD or direct link for how to get past the learning curve needed after you open the box. You almost need instructions on how to read the instructions. This is my first 5-thread serger and I purchased it because of other reviews. The machine is strong and definitely aligns with the Professional title.

    easey to use

    I am happy to have this machine it is easy to use following the guide book and it gets easier the more I sew with it,i especially love the ease of threading it since I sew a lot and need to change thread colors often, the singer professional 5 overlock serger is definitely a winner with me
