  • Same theme as Harry Potter-wizards, dark forces

A friend knowing that I like the Harry Potter series gave me this book. I was looking to read something in the realm of magic and "Septimus Heap, Book One: Magyk" has the quality of magical theme, plot, and characters that I enjoy reading. The basic plot is of good versus evil and a "unique" child named Septimus who against all odds finds out who he really is---- a magical wizard, who is not an orphan as he was raised to think. Septimus is the seventh son of a seventh son (Septimus father is Silas who is also a seventh son) which means that he holds the power of being a natural wizard with talent that is beyond that of any other wizard. After reading the first chapter I sensed the full storyline and I thought "Oh, no, this is too similar to Harry Potter!" But then I discovered ...

  • BETTER THAN HARRY POTTER, IF THAT IS POSSIBLE!

I am a 43 year old woman & I LOVED this book! I listened to it on Audio Book, and it was fantastic. The narrator does an INCREDIBLE job, all the characters have different voices, I could honestly not tell it was the same man reading all the characters. I honestly liked this book BETTER than Harry Potter! One thing I am upset about is the 2nd book, FLYTE, is not available on Audio Book, only printed book. I even emailed the publisher! The 3rd in the series will be released in 2007, I believe. Angie Sage is a very gifted writer.
