Reviews
Hollywood's Dirtiest Secret is an important new book that exposes the hidden environmental costs of how we make, watch, and dispose of movies. Well-researched and written in an accessible style, it is a thought-provoking alternative history of Hollywood, delving into the disconnect between our enjoyment of screen culture and concern for its environmental impact. It will be of interest to scholars and students in a range of fields including cultural studies, communication, social science, and environmental studies., Written with passion and commitment, [this book] holds a mirror to the society in redefining the boundaries of entertainment, as if the environment matters., Hollywood's Dirtiest Secret injects the field of environmental media studies (and just plain media studies) with an exciting toolkit and a renewed sense of energy., Hunter Vaughan's forensic accounting uncovers Hollywood's secretly unpaid debts to the environment, demonstrating ecocriticism's power to connect political economy to movies' themes and styles, for analysis and for future makers. More than compelling: entertaining and inspiring., In Hollywood's Dirtiest Secret: The Hidden Environmental Costs of the Movies (2019), Hunter Vaughan takes a vibrant and interdisciplinary look into the environmental impact of producing, advertising, watching, distributing, and buying films., In Vaughan's deft readings of multiple films and their productive apparatuses, film theory and analysis also become "updated" into a cutting-edge discipline. Hollywood's Dirtiest Secret is an essential book in ecocinema and ecomedia studies and an important contribution to ecomaterialism within cultural studies more broadly., Hunter Vaughan's forensic accounting uncovers Hollywood's secretly unpaid debts to the environment, demonstrating eco-criticism's power to connect political economy to movies' themes and styles, for analysis and for future makers. Was sent the wrong item. I ordered a CD and I received an LP instead. Two different places on the description said that it was a used CD in good condition. When I emailed the seller about it I got a generic reply telling me that they would get to it when they can and that if I send a second message it will just delay the process. That is terrible customer service. If they have time to send me an email message at all then they have time to initiate a refund or to answer the question I asked.

The book arrived in a plastic envelope with not protection and unfortunately it looked like the book was damaged in transit because of it. The items original ETA was April 18th but arrived on April 22nd. I requested a refund after seeing the quality of the book and the seller responded with a full refund and an apology for the quality. I really appreciated the customer service but was sad to see the book not in the quality described.

Thank you so much for the quick response and delivery. I have not ordered from eBay in many years. You have renewed my trust that there are some professional sellers I can work with through eBay not just Amazon. Thanks again!☺️
