The Maker's Diet by Jordan S. Rubin
I bought the book because my Dr. was talking to me about starting an organic diet. I mentioned this book and he said it was excellent. It gives a lot of very good information not only on eating right but good health the natural way in general. It also has some very interesting information on Biblical guidelines for food and health. I learned a great deal about the use of aromatherapy oils in healing and health as they were used in the Old Testament. The only thing I did not like about the book was that it was very detailed and somewhat difficult to put into practice in the average persons life with out making eatng and your diet your whole focus. Interesting Book, Some Helpful Information
I enjoyed reading this book and it had lots of interesting information. However, the entire book seems geared toward selling the author's brand of supplements. It is not a diet you can successfully do unless you plan on buying the supplements, in my opinion, although there is some interesting, helpful information you can use, such as specific foods to avoid for overall health, and why you should avoid those foods. He does include recipes at the end of the book, and the good thing about these recipes is that they are easy to prepare and use real foods, widely available anywhere. However most of these recipes are taken from another popular book. Overall, an interesting book, but I was left with a hopeless feeling after I read it, because I personally am not interested in doing any sort ... Your health is your responsibility. It does not belong to your doctor. It does not belong to your government. Rubin's journey from being deathly ill to radiant good health resulted from a change in diet. He chose and promotes a diet prescribed by the "Maker" or original designer for a cure. If your Hewlett Packard printer breaks down, would you refer to a manual written for a Canon printer? Not likely. You would obviously want the manual written by the original manufacturer to make it function properly. The journey Rubin takes is one of discovery of an ancient prescription and diet. He then proceeds to have elements of this diet scientifically analyzed for answers into WHY it works. There turns out to be harmonious agreement between modern science and Biblically prescribed diet and ... Your health is your responsibility. It does not belong to your doctor. If you want to invest in your own health and longevity but are currently consuming the standard American diet - this book could be an eye opener and offer a EUREKA! moment for you . . . and your health. I recommend this book as an excellent reference point in your quest for better health.

I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's disease and a friend recommended this book. Dr. Rubin's story is very compelling and the results of his ideas on diet, even more so. I am a student of the Bible but had missed some of the great points he makes concerning diet and health. I really appreciated a new look at what Scriptures teach us in these areas. Often when writers teach about doing things "God's Way" they do so in a judgmental way, implying that one is unspiritual if they do not follow the plan. I appreciate Dr. Rubin's approach. He does not judge those who do not follow these ideas. Not only does he have a thorough teaching of Scriptural principles but he brings in science and history to back up what God has taught us through His revealed Word. I am very grateful for this book ... I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's disease and a friend recommended this book.
