Synopsis
The islands of Murano, in the lagoon of Venice, have been a sheltered community of glass artists for at least 700 years, leading the world in blown techniques and design of beautiful and functional objects. This new study captures the artistry of Murano glass as well as the multi-generational world of discovery, innovation, alliances, and realliances that have fostered that artistry. With 250 stunning color photographs of Murano glass art and a detailed text that includes historical information and family trees, this book is original in its comprehensive presentation of the artists, both past and present. The seasoned collector will find this an invaluable sourcebook for untangling Murano relationships and tracking individual careers. The novice and curious visitor will find an easy, carefully-structured introduction to the bold beauty of Venetian glass.

This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is in better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you!

Great seller! Item is what I ordered; good communication; shipped promptly; good value. NOTE TO SELLER: packaging was NOT appropriate for item; it was a flimsy, plastic envelope, with no stiff material to prevent creases. The book came with two deep creases that involved the *entire* item: one is a 1" triangle lower left side (bound edge); the other is a 7" triangle on upper right side (open edge).

  • Select Murano images, good text

This large hardcover book is more about historical information of the different glassmakers and glass companies from Murano, Italy. The pictures are good and mostly color, however, they are very selective and you get more vases and tableware than figurals, which is disappointing to me as I had hoped to identify several figures done in the sommerso method (very little about the latter is covered)
