About this product

Product Information

Filmed in Shrewsbury, England, this version of Dickens' beloved classic is considered by many to be the best. All the performances are excellent, but George C. Scott makes the often-played Ebenezer Scrooge his very own. Highly recommended.

  • A Christmas Carol

This story is a thread that is woven into the festive tapestry of the Holiday Season in times past and remains so today. Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol warms the heart, body and soul. Whether you live in the State of California, New Jersey, Nevada, Georgia, Florida, etc., if we aren't careful we can drift into the 'state' of SELFISHNESS. Ebenezer Scrooge (played by George C. Scott)was a mean old man who cared only about money. As you know, in the story, he made Bob Cratchit work under poor conditions. Bob needed the money, as his son, Tiny Tim, needed crutches to help him walk. Christmas was coming, too. But Scrooge didn't care...he was miserable all to himself in his 'state' of SELFISHNESS. In the process of time, things occured that helped Scrooge transition into the ...

  • Excellent version of a classic

I can't decide if I like George C. Scott's performance or Patrick Stewart's performance as Scrooge better. I have both and they are equally awesome! They are different in subtle ways but both films do great service to the Dicken's classic. As for Scott, his acting is impeccable and true to the character of Scrooge. His English accent is a little off but is an easily ignored fault. Scott is Scott, always a great actor. The story-line of the movie is also pretty close to the Dickens story. I should have bought it on DVD but got a good deal on VHS. You can't go wrong with this film.
