    Interesting account of Japanese history during the turbulent period just prior to WWII. Author did a lot of research in order to make this detailed and well written material. I would have given the highest rating except I've only had the books for about one week. Kind of difficult to read both in that short time.

    Superb book if you are fascinated by history as I am. Nearly 900 pages, but my interest never flagged. No noticeable bias in authoring. I believe there is a great deal to be learned from history if it is presented accurately and not as revisionist history.
