I prefer P-90s
I've played Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, and PRS Custom 24s. I've played humbuckers, single-coils, and custom-wound pickups, but for playing blues or rock, P-90s work for me. Gritty when cranked, they clean up very nicely turned down to about 8. I've got a G&L Ascari, a PRS SE Soapbar II, an Epi ES-339 P-90, and I've got a hard-tail Strat project which is going to be the home for these two pickups.
