Not just for XC racers
Float and release angles can get confusing. For me I came from SPD Shimano where I barely turned my foot 7 degrees or rolled it to get out. I fell multiple times climbing technical with the standard cleats. These cleats make it 50% easier to get out. I have never had my foot come out accidentally with it. These are the cleats to get if you have knee problems.

Work fine when new. Very good machined finish where it matters.
Easy to mount on shoes. Box includes long and short screws, and plastic spacers. Positive engagement with pedals. Never slips off. Hope cleats last long. Normally Crank Bros cleats are soft metal and wear quickly. I am using these on a high racer recumbent bike.
