About this product

Product Information

A Japanese-American co-production, director Richard Fleischer (SOYLENT GREEN) and two Japanese directors put together this ultrarealistic account of the bombing of Pearl Harbor as presented from the perspectives of both nations, as diplomatic tensions rise between the two countries. While the Japanese military plans its attack on American military installations, the American forces nearly stumble into a much greater calamity due to a series of errors and mistakes. As the two sides plunge closer to war, the tension escalates until the final, spectacular air raid, the most realistic ever filmed. This ITA award winner has a fabulous cast, including Martin Balsam, Joseph Cotten, Jason Robards, James Whitmore, and E.G. Marshall.

  • 30 year old sealed VHS movie worked perfectly

Bought to see if an old but expensive VHS recorder was still working enough to play a tape. Preferred to use a new or unused tape to keep thw tape heads clean if it was working. Surprised how well the movie looked on my new flat panel TV. Glad I brought the movie.

  • Pearl Harbor as the Japanese saw it

Using real events as references, this story fairly realistically relates the Japanese version of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. For it's day, it was outstanding photography. Very enjoyable to watch and then compare it to the historical records - you'll be very hard pressed to find discrepancies (differences of opinion, perhaps). This is a historically accurate VHS movie. A definate "must-see" film and one that belongs in the library of a historian or militaria collector. This film is in a NTSC VHS format and was issued in 2001. Very highly recommended! • Great movie. Saw it when it first screened.

This was a tragic time in our history, both America's and Japan's. The movie brought the war to life for those of us born after the war. I find it disquieting that such severe action must be taken to get the attention of the aggressive and cruel Japanese military of that day. I bought this movie because of memories of having seen it at preview, visits to Japan and the ongoing anger of the citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki toward Americans, and my ties to the Japanese community. It is a beautifully presented movie for all age categories.

  • The Axis powers Almost destroyed USA

Tora Tora Tora will rock your world; very powerful how the foreign country Japan tried to annihilate the United States; "united we stand divided we fall". When the Japanese were killing our boys, they were laughing and having a great time destroying 2000-3000 of our young men in Hawaii. please pray for our poor country.
