OK seller, merchandise as described, new in packages at a decent price. Incredibly screwed up shipping by Amazon. Never got a valid tracking number. Seller did his best but the overall transaction was flawed. I found the package under a low growing tree beside my driveway days after it was reported delivered. It had been out in the rain at least once. Inexcusable given the other three delivery point options any of which could’ve been used without difficulty. Amazon shipping was the problem.

    A step up from budget

Want something better than a Neewer 800? Cant afford an at2020? Here you are. This mic is heavier than normal, and needs a spider mount wider than you think. Mine came with one, but no pop filter, good luck finding one on ebay. All in all, a decent buy for those wanting to avoid the "poor man"s look and the "basic bitch" with an at2020. Make sure your mic arm or stand can deal with the weight though, a neewer brand one can be just enough at times.

  • MXL 770 is a very fine microphone.

I own six MXL 770s and recently acquired six for my church. The black finish is unobtrusive but the really good features are the attenuation (-10db) switch and the bass roll off switch. The latter is excellent for a large church with low pitch resonances. The quality of the microphones is most excellent when used with our hand bells but also with string or horn instruments as well as guitarists and vocals. Our music director doesn't like amplified instruments so the homebound recordings, hearing assists, broadcast recrodings, and remote monitoring do appreciate the quality.

  • The best value for the price.

This mic is a workhorse. I use it to record metal vocals, and it's awesome. It captures all the nuances of my voice, and works well for close and more distant recording. Highly recommended. Just be sure to use the -10dB switch if you're shouting!

  • Beware of this mic

My experience with the performance of this microphone has been very, very disappointing. I had a major hum on my recordings and after a painstaking process of elimination, discovered the loud hum was being generated from this microphone. And you won't believe this...after contacting the company, Marshall Electronics, I was encouraged to fix the hum myself. I was sent a link to a blog post where a customer discovers an inherent defect in the manufacturing of this mic. The manufacturers used black paint inside the ring between the base barrel and the head which causes major grounding issues. In the blog, the customer is encouraged to take the mic apart and sand the black paint away in the areas where the paint should not be. Amazing! Not only is Marshall Electronics admitting this ...
